(These lyrics got Hare Chrishna kicked out of the band for not being hardcore enough.)

"The fallen Krishna chant"
--by Hare Chrishna

Spoken:  (childish adult voice)
oh help me Lord Krishna.
how I worship you so,
but to be honest
I  feel a little silly if I am chanting
"Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare
Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare" in public all the time.
I know its foolish but its how I feel
so, instead,
I repeat it in my head and chant it when i am alone.
I know I shouldn't worry,
as a practitioner will have to be tolerant.
in fact
sometimes I just feel plain foolish,
like there is this voice crying out
"look how strange you have become, offering your food and chanting".
it sometimes makes me worry that i have gone overboard,
I know this is just fear and doubt
and it seems each time I shrug it off,
I go a little further.
I mean
I only learned about krishna consciousness for the first time
a couple
months ago
and here I am,
I am not far,
but it seems like a long way to me.

 (childish Darth-Vader voice)
Hello, my Hare Krishna!
Yes. It's fantastic.
You've come a long way.
Krishna consciousness is an incredably poweful thing.
In a few months
you can become a completely different person.
So stick with it.
It is the only worthwhile thing.

I understand your feelings about chanting in public --
what the other people might think,
but actually in this age
most people are so caught-up with themselves
that they won't even notice  that you are chanting.
And even if they do what does it matter?
Personally I just chant Hare Krishna wherever I go.
I always have my beads
and I just chant Hare Krishna.
It is the best thing to do.
You don't have to chant very loudly
or make a big thing about it
and you will find that sometimes...
people will ask you what you are doing
and you can tell them something about Krishna,
or give them one of Srila Prabhupada's small books.
It is a very nice way to start talking to someone about me.

We want to organize our lives
so we always remember Krishna,
never forget Krishna,
so the best way is to always chant Hare Krishna,
it will be very quickly effective
and just as you have seen so much change in the last couple of months
you will look back
and see how much further you have come.
It is really worth it to try
and chant all the time.
Particularly the time that we would otherwise be wasting.
If you are walking along the street
or siting in the bus
what loss is there in chanting my name.
It costs you nothing
and you don't waste any time!
but the spiritual benefits are very great,
not only for you,
but by chanting Hare Krishna
you will purify the whole atmosphere
so other people will benefit also.
It is a very powerful thing.
So it is worth getting over little fears
about what other people might think.

And we do have to become very tolerant.
The world is full of demons
and as soon
as we try to become Krishna conscious
there will be so much opposition,
so many problems,
but we have to be tolerant,
we have to remain fixed in our vows,
and most importantly
we have to keep chanting...
Hare Krishna.

So give it a try,
all you wanna-be Krishnas out there.
the next time you yoga,
chant this mantra
and see what happens..
